Hi all...I just got my CPAP machine this past Saturday, so I've had the pleasure of sleeping 4 nights with it now. I have a few questions that maybe others can answer...1) I connected the humidifier to my CPAP, filled it to the line with disteilled water and it pulled water up into the hose and made noise like blowing bubbles or something, anyone else have this happen? 2) how long does it take to get used to it and sleep good? I'm awake every 2 hours or so because of this thing hanging on my face! 3) I have a nasal pillow swift mask thing, it seems to come off when i turn on my side, well not off, just not blowing air in my nose. Anyone use this mask? Do I have to stay on my back the whole time!!?!?!?!? Thanks.

Hi you have mentioned a few different issues. One; you mentioned water getting into you CPAP tubing, two; you are having trouble with the mask shifting out of your nose when you move and three; how long it takes to get used to the unit?
I. How much water did you place in the humidifier reservoir, and/or what is your humidifier set at? If water was under the max line you may be getting humidity rain out due to your room being more cool than the air flowing through the CPAP tubing, resulting in water droplets on the internal wall of the tubing.
2. You did not indicate your CPAP setting or if you are clausrophobic. You may choose a different type of mask like a nasal mask (ResMed Vista or Respironics Easy Life, etc.) that fits more securely and allows for movements.
3. Until you get a better fitting mask you may never get used to the machine, it is important to have the best mask fit possible so you would not be awakened at night by leaks or other discomfort.

Adjust your humidifier to a lower setting and try a different mask with a better fit. Normally it takes two to three weeks to adjust to the therapy device without having other discomforts.RRT.

thanks for the advice. i had the water down below the line on the reservoir. i didn't want to risk messing the machine up so i disconnected the humidifier portion and just use the cpap. i'm not claustrophobic or nothing i believe it is the mask. i had a swift nasal pillow with my machine set at 12cm. i'm now using a resmed mirage activa lt mask and it seems to work great. its getting better. thanks again for the advice.
