Hi to all. I'm retired USAF and recently diagnosed with severe sleep apnea (77/hr). I have a few questions to ask. (1) I'm new to sleep therapy and have not gotten my 1st cpap, but I am looking at the ResMed S9 CPAP w/H5i Humidifyer and Climate Control. I know it's new, but does anyone have any comments about this cpap machine. (2) My next question is kind of long so please bear with me. Since I was just diagnosed with sleep apnea in april, I am concerned about the possibility of my children also having it. I have 2 sons of which both are local firemen and neither has been tested. One of which is in US Coast Guard Res and just left this last Sat for a yr in Kuwait. I know my son still in this area has sleep apnea because he had asked me if I ever stopped breathing at night and said his wife told him that he does. This was about a yr ago and before I was tested or knew about the dangers etc. I am trying to get local son to get tested. But my concern is my other son who just left for Kuwait. My question - Is it possible for him to get a Home Test Kit over there to determine if he has sleep apnea. I saw on the web site that a Deployment Apnea Kit is available. I thought that if he could get the home tester and use it there, he might also be able to get the deployment kit if needed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have had the Resmed S9 Autoset for 6 weeks, after recent diagnosis.

No other experience with other machines, but I do like it. Put on the nasal pillows, and the machine turns self on. It didnt take me long at all to get used to it. For me, the nasal pillows are significantly better than the nasal mask, but individual tastes vary I understand.
I am deploying later this summer and taking it with me. Haven't yet got the deployment pack.

Sorry, no insight on your other questions.

Good luck!
